Sixth Regional Energy Conference Energy Development in South East Europe: energy security, sustainability, investments and growth

Event information

ADDRESS FROM THE PROGRAMME COMMITTEE

Dear guests and participants in the Sixth Regional energy Conference “Energy Development in Southeast Europe: Energy security, sustainability, investment and growth”

It is my pleasure on behalf of the Programme Committee to welcome you to this important for the energy sector of Bulgaria and the region event.

We all witness dynamic changes in the energy development in our region and also throughout all Member States of the European Union and the world. Enhanced energy security, greater connectivity of our energy systems and markets, reduced impact of the energy on the environment are the present day priorities and it is our duty to respond to these challenges. These will be actually the key issues to discuss during this significant energy event.

The valid and sound reasons to participate in the Conference from professional point of view are at least the following:

   Regulatory aspects and approach in coupling the energy systems of Bulgaria and its neighboring countries will be discussed;
   Progress on the projects for construction of the gas interconnectors on Bulgarian territory and the idea for Balkan gas hub will be communicated;
   Key topics related to the sustainable development of Bulgaria and the region will be discussed, including the future of the cola-fired plants, development of renewables, energy efficiency and demand-side management
   Various expert opinions on the possible options to solve the issue on Belene NPP equipment will be presented

Let us together discuss and come up with the best solutions for the energy development of Bulgaria and the region as a part of the European Energy Union.
